Not so long ago I got a chance to photograph identical twins for the very first time. The day I have received an inquiry I was full of excitement but a few days before the actual session I began to feel a little nervous to be honest. I was afraid babies won’t be sleepy enough; or not in a good mood and it will affect both parents and me — the result would be a disaster. Not a good way of thinking, I know.. Luckily it was absolutely painless! I brushed those thoughts off and approached this session as any other. In fact, it went exactly as a regular session only twice the joy observing adorable tiny boys navigating through their first days of life.
Of course I asked a question about how do they tell them apart. I always thought parents on some emotional level just know who is who. Turns out, during those first days when everyone is getting to know each other they can’t tell them apart either! So one of the boys has a tiny marker mark behind his ear, and throughout the whole session one of them had his socks on. I admired their resourcefulness and practical approach because as a matter of a fact if identical twins would ever got mixed up, there is no way to establish their identity. Quite a responsibly it is raising two identical babies!
